Google Maps – The Military Ambush Ronco del Popo
Today we visit the Digola Pass starting from the Mare locality of San Pietro di Cadore, then going up the Mount Terza Piccola on its north side. We start crossing the Piave river on the comfortable pedestrian bridge, we turn left and once we reach Pradolfo we begin to climb. We cross the Paschere wood along a recently built wooded road. Almost at the end of the cart track, following the signs, we begin the little-known path that leads to the locality ‘Tabia’ Ronco del Popo and then continues until it joins the path marked CAI-313 that climbs from the town of Campolongo and accompanies us up to the Pass of the Digola.
Convenient access and return route from the Terza Piccola and Terza Media Mountains. Along the way there are the remains of military ambushes dating back to the First World War just before arriving at the Tabia ‘Ronco del Popo. Unfortunately at the moment the route is slightly blocked in the last stretch that leads from the second posting to the CAI path by trees that crashed during the winter.
